About

For more than 200 years the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has served as a model institution for learning. Now in its third century, UNC-Chapel Hill has not only a unique historical tradition, but also a place as one of the nation’s top universities. Unfortunately, members of the University community–especially its students–too easily forget the special nature of their school and the value it adds to their state, nation and world.

Blue & White was established in the spring of 1998 as a media outlet and community resource, designed to return focus to the greatest things about this “University of the People.” Its creators hoped to become a financially independent, student-run magazine that allowed opportunities for students of all majors to utilize their talents and abilities in a practical manner. Today its 75-member staff informs students about the defining personalities, current issues, historical patterns and trends that will shape the University’s future. Through its two media products–Blue & White Magazine and Blue & White Online–the organization aims to help students develop a greater appreciation of the University and the roles it plays for the communities it serves.

Blue & White’s vision is to be the highest quality media organization impacting the students, faculty and friends of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill–having the best media products, business management and staff.
